It had been raining all night and stadium had accumulated moisture well. This coupled with the Over cast condition on Saturday morning, it was perfect for blowers to take upper hand, Pacers thriving for pace enjoyed the pace, bounce and swing while spinners got the grip and bounce from the surface making batsmen dance to their tunes. Now coming to match results, Nithya & Co with their strong bowling attack won the series 2-1 over the Sudeep & CO who were filled with batting blasters..

Match1:
At last the first match began at 8:30 on a overcast condition perfect for bowling though not due to weather nor from ground conditions, but due to the late latif in the team that match initially began with 6 at first and then became 8 by the end of the match .. Rest came to the next match. Nithya won the toss and elected to bat, I started the innings while sudhir opened the bowling attack. In the 2nd over Harish JR joined as a second partner to me in no-striker as the team size increased. He was in a punishing mood and hit a boundary to increase the tempo. I go out in the third over while Nithya took and catch behind the stumps and mean time Harish trying to hit the ball out of the ground was caught in the deep. Then it was Nithya ably supported by Raghavan who led the counter attack. Nithya even got a six over mid wicket and increased the tempo an target of 42 was set for batters to win the game. Batters started really well with 9 of he first over (thanks to a miss-filed from myself) also blowers had kept their fielders spread across giving easy singles amidst them. I gave away a six in the next over and score was 19 and match was running out of bowlers hand when a sudden turn of events happened. Sudeep trying to take second ran while Mohan dislodged the bails and said its out while few neutral boys had few confusions while sudeep was confident it was not out and Nithya felt it was out.. What else.. at last sudeep left the ground slowly sadly deeply wounded. Harish SP got run out for brilliant in field throw from Harish Jr. Then even Sudhir trying to hoik it over long on perished as he couldn’t clear me .. and Mohan led the single battle but got out in the last ball of the innings losing by 10 runs..
Match2:
Batters won the toss and elected to bat. The two most feared opening batsmen in the vidhyapeet circle Madhu & Sudeep opened the innings while the devastating fast bowler Harish Jr opened the attack for bowlers. It was beautiful over keeping them down only for a single off the over. I got the opportunity to bowl the second over hehhe.. We repeated the same sequence once more and after 4 overs the batters were 7/0 after 4 overs.. Then Nithya came to attack and sudeep was thrice lucky as 3 catches were dropped from all corners of the ground. But in the next over our nayawala madhu bowling his first over took sudeep caught at deep with Prashanth completing the catch successfully. Raghavan bowled the last over with is wrong foot bowling, batters couldn’t go fast and were only able to score 16 with 17 as the target. Bowlers X1 started the innings with Prashant and Raghavan both in the hitting mode followed by Naya Madhu who blasted a six as well in course to victory. In the mean time Sudeep and co were trying new strategy with the slow bowlers (Santosh, Sudeep, Madhu under the able guidance of Harish SP ). But still the match was over in 4 overs with bowlers winning the series by winning both matches.
Match3:
Bowlers won the toss and elected to bat first and lost madhu in the first over from Mohan. Madhu came to bowl and 3 wickets fell in the same over with Madhu (nayawala) getting run out while Prashant & Harish got out trying to it the ball out of the park. Bowlers were struggling at 12 /4 and Nithya and joined together to kind of partnership but Nithya too got out caught out. Then it was ragahvan who joined me till the last over to get the score to 26. Sudeep got raghavan bowed in the last over to complete the bowlers innings. Raghavan bowled the first over while Harish SP and Sudhir opened the innings for the Batters. Raghavan couldn’t get his line right and bowled few full-tosses and score was 9 after the first over. I bowled the second over giving 3 runs. Prashant bowled the third over who gave a four as well as took wicket as well to keep bowlers in hunt. I got the wicket of Harish SP in the next over getting him stumped. Nithya & Harish JR tried to close the game bowling last 4 overs. But Batters finished the match in 7th over itself getting a consolation win.

Janmashami CUP special at SNCG...
It was a special tournament planned on 2nd of October on eve of Janmashtami at SNCG. Even though it was an event in midweek, regular players made sure we had a successful event. It was Deepak and Co won the first two encounters and were all set win Final as well, But Nithya playing captains, Bowled his team to victory in all important Final (HeHe...)..
NMK X1- Nithya, Madhu, Karthik, Kiran UK, Santosh M (played for both sides in 3rd match) Sr. citizen Uncle (played first match)
DVS X1- Deepak, Vaishak, Sudheer, Prashanth & Pinch-hitter Reddy boy (Played first 2 matches), Venkatesh (Played 3rd match),
Match1:
NMK-X1 was put into bat. Madhu opened the innings, while me giving company while Prashant opened the innings. They started well but soon fell into a trap with me getting run out trying for non existent single. Then karthik joined Madhu and slowly tried to study the innings. But soon wickets started to fall. Madhu was trying at one end to increase the run rate but he too fell trying to increase the run rate. Nithya too couldn’t increase the tempo. And Santosh finally got out making sure Uncle D’Cruz didn’t face a single delivery. Chasing a modest target of 21 of 6 overs, DVS lost their first wicket in the form of Sudeer with Nithya getting the much needed break through. Karthik came to bowl the second over and gave away 2 fours and six to Vaishak virtually making sure no chance left to NMK X1. The match fixing allegations have been lurking in the corner. And here too there seems to be a family fixing seems to be done with younger brother making sure his bro is well settled at the SNCG after coming from the long break. The Officials have kept their eye on karthik as he been repeating the same trend when ever his bro is playing.

They started to score well but Karthik lost his wicket trying to keep the run rate, I joined madhu and slowly kept moving the score, I too fell cheaply trying to hit sudheer out of the park, only to miscue a simple catch. Madhu, Nithya made sure we have a healthy score of 30 at the end of 6 overs. Chasing a 31, Madhu came to bowl the first over, IT was successful where he picked two crucial wickets of Vaishak & Sudeer that too without giving a single run and it nearly played off. Nithya wasted no time in sending MR Pinch hitting Reddy boy back to the pavilion. DVS were really struggling and were down in doldrums with last wickets in hand, With Prashant and Deepak in the crease. Deepak somehow managed a much needed boundary to break the shackles. Then came real drama as Madhu came to bowl the third over of the innings. It went own as the longest over in the history of the SNCG as he bowled 19 deliveries to completed the over as well as many runs which I am currently not sure off and there was catches being dropped mis-fieldings everything needed to give the confidence to the opposite team. I some how bowled a pretty good over (my best of the entire series) giving away only 2 runs off the over. Nithya bowled his beat as usual 5th over keeping 8 runs to win off the last over.. Seeing my previous performance, Everyone kept confidence in me and gave the ball to me to bowl the last over. I too kept their hopes alive by keeping Deepak quite with dot balls in the first 2 deliveries. But Some how Deepak came own the track and connected a stoke which washed all the dreams of NMK (along with me) and sailed over deep mid-wicket for a huge SIX (NAHIIIIIIII).. an then again it was just a formality that another 2 runs were completed without much fuss and NMK showed the world how to get defeated virtually from the jaws of WIN… Dr Veteran Deepak was the man of the moment and showed his experience and class to SNCG spectators with getting able support from the young talented Prashanth.

It was once again NMK ‘s turn to bat first with Madhu & Karthik opening the innings. Venaktesh joined the DNV X1 while Prashath left the field contended and wasn’t willing to play the next match, He wanted to leave to his college as his dream girl was waiting for him on the way. He discarded the drop to college from his fellow players as he was to be escorted from next road of SNCG to his college on sooty-PEP:).. Lets come to the action again..
Madhu got out early this time around trying to go on top too early in the innings, Again I joined along with Karthik, Venkatesh came to bowl the second over of the innings, Taking full advantage of his first over at SNCG, Karthik blasted for a huge sixer as well as couple of fours to get the score to 20 of 2 overs. Then suddenly karthik and I fell in quick succession. Nithya & Santosh tried their best to up ten tempo and made sure target 32 was set for the final encounter to win the SNCG CUP …
Venkatesh and Sudheer opened the innings while Madhu once again opened the bowling attack. This DNV was ready with the plan this time to play the slow pace off madhu without taking much risk they were scored 8 off the over. Karthik bowled the second over and Sudheer miscued a pull shot but I couldn’t grab the much required catch. Then I again came to bowl, Catch was dropped from karthik who wasn’t ready and was thinking off his duties to be performed in home and orders pending from his HM (Alias Home minister). Then I bowled another lolly pop to get it for a six (as a habitual off giving away six every over)
and DNV were crazing along successfully towards the cup, Nithya came to bowl the 4th over and he was at his best once again keeping it tight and neat getting the wickets Sudheer & Venkatesh. Again Vaishak and Deepak were in the crease and required 7 of the final 2 overs. Again Karthik came to bowl the penultimate over with vaishak on strike. Some how he managed first 3 dot balls by keeping ball straight and up to the wicket, but one sort delivery yielded a four of the next delivery with vaishak getting better of his younger kin once again, He scored a single to keep strike for the last over. Needing 2 runs to win, Nithya came to bowl the final over with vaishak facing and asking to bowl a Yorker. Nithya bowled intelligently bowling few wides (No runs for extras) to begin with it mixing it well with the well disguised in swinging Yorkers. Vaishak had no answer for one off those deliveries as he played it on to wickets to get the match much needed heat. Santhosh came to replace the Vaishak and needed 2 runs to lift the cup for DNV, Nithya now brimming with the confidence bowled rest off the bowls making sure Santosh couldn’t get the much required single or two and Deepak looking from the non-strikers end as a meek spectator. So This time around DNV made sure they to o can follow NMK to lose from the winning position.
Again it was a fascinating week of cricket with 2 teams played neck to neck for winning, to be gladiators of the battle for championship, with never say die attitude. So hope everyone is rearing to go next week. So keep your energies up and running until next week

Battle for cricket supremacy at SNCG...
It was Battle for supremacy in the gentleman’s mental game at SNCG on Saturday. Mr Venkatesh took away the new talent on the block award, There was no competition for Sahshi as he was the best man behind the stumps taking some scintillating catches, helping bowler strategies his deliveries (putting his Skills learned in US to good effect along with the US outfit…)The teams were shuffled across after match (I don’t know for what reason…) .. But the Venkatesh made sure he won all the three games he was part off who had Vaishak for his company.. While Harish (Sr) was at the other end getting company from Karthik, Santosh & Prashant.. ehhee… Nihya and me were on 1-2. All other were as usual late entrants.. Shashi was the lucky and played on both the sides getting batting practice on both sides to get acclimatized to the SNCG conditions..
Match1:
NVVK X1- Nithya, Vaishak, Venkatesh, Kiran UK

HSPK X1- Harish (Sr), Santosh M, Prashant, Karthik,
NVVK won the toss and elected to bat with Vaishak (playing after ages…) opened the innings with Venkatesh, New comer to SNCG with high expectation while Harish opened bowling attack and took full advantage of lack of match practice from Vaishak, getting his wickets getting him bowled. Then it was my turn to join Venkatesh and kept rotating the strike. Scored slowly and steadily But there was sudden double break with both venkatesh and nithya going in quick succession. Then It was me and shashi made sure that we complete the allotted 6 overs. And at last I too could hit a six in the final over (which is still a 8th wonder heheh) to get the score to 25. Needing 26 of 6 HSPK had a bad start with Prashant getting run out with out even facing a single delivery with brilliant work from Shahi. Then Nithya got Harish (Sr) and they were struggling at 0 for 2 after one over.. And it became 2/3 after 3 overs when santosh got out. Then it was karthik who was battling a lone battle with shahi giving him the much needed SAATH. But requiring 20 of last over Vaishak got caught & bowled his younger one to finish off the match.

Har-Deep X1- Deepak, Harish (Jr), Rajesh, Sudheer, Prasad, Mohan, Vaishak, and Venkatesh
Match 2:
Nithya/Harish won the toss and elected to bat first. Prashant/Karthik opened the innings while pacy Harish Jr, opened the bowling attack. He ad the early success taking prashant bowled by beating him in pace. The Harish took guard to resurrect the innings but couldn’t stay there for long. Then it was my turn to join karthik to build the innings. Though we got couple of boundaries and run rate slowly started to move up, I got run out trying for a suicidal second. Nithya joined karthik an tried t o increase the tempo. But some good tight bowling from Deepak and co restricted the nithya/haris to 38 which was a below par score on the SNCG for 8 overs with so much of open spaces available.. The new pair of Venkatesh and Rajesh opened the innings while veteran Harish sr took up the challenge of bowling. The venkatesh/Rajesh played sensibly scoring with 3-4 an over without taking any risk the match was evenly poised at half way stage with battings side still requiring 22 of the 4 overs. And Rajesh got out trying to increase the tempo. But then t came to battle of Harishs.. As Harish Jr took on the bowling of Harish Sr, and hit 2 mammoth sixers and a boundary to get the match almost on the verge of finish. Karthik came back to take Harish Jr caught behind But it was just the formality before they won the match.
Match 3:
Once again It was nitha/hari X1 who won the toss and elected to bat first. This time around Santosh and Karthik opened the innings while Mohan started the bowling attack. Harish Jr took Santosh out and then I joined the Karthik. Deepak came to bowl the 3rd over and foxed Karthik with slower leg cutter with Santosh completing a brilliant catch to end the innings. Then it was Nithya who came along with a team needing a partnership dearly, But Deepak succeeded in Nithya to go for a biggie with keeping fielders in the in Field and inviting for a big bash. Nithya fell a prey for the strategy and got an edge to get caught and bowled in the last delivery of the over. Then Harish Sr joined me and we both were trying to build the innings but trying to chip shot Harish Sr hit the ball straight to fielder at mid-wicket and the partnership was broken again Prashant joined me but Deepak foxed me with yet another slower leg cutter. Srikanth came to bat got few lusty blows to get the score to 30. in the mean time Harish Jr attacked Srikant on his private parts an match was halter for few minutes. It was disclosed later that he target things that he loves… oops… But any ways chasing target of 31, venkatesh opened the innings with Prasad but slowly they were building the innings but Prasad got out and even though Venkatesh was playing brilliantly getting few boundaries to keep the tempo. Sudheer, Rajesh were there building the partnership for small but efficient enough to keep the team on track with the required run rate. Deepak came to give a perfect foil for venkatesh. Both played effortlessly and were on target. At one stage Team required 12 of 3 overs and Karthik came to bowl. Vaishak spoke the future that “Match would finish in this particular over and Karthik would be giving 2 boundaries.” But Karthik made sure that his brothers words were taken with utmost respect and gave away 2 boundaries in first two deliveries. Venaktesh retired trying to give batting practice to rest of the team. Vaishak came to the crease. Karthik bowled another long hop and made sure his bro Vaishak hit the Six to complete he match. There were rumors that Karthik and Harish Jr were not playing up to their potential due to match fixing from their respective brothers.. The investigation is in progress.
So it was good show of cricket all in all, with lot players turning into SNCG for the matches.. It is expected that it might improve still further with the quality of cricket being improved tremendously by the bunch of the players…
Oops I had forgotten to mention that in second match “while shouting to a fielder to throw at the bowler end, I was shouting as batting end”. Deepak felt it was the confusion.. And had urged to put it in the blog as confusion. Hence I Have put it across the same way I suppose. Anyways until next week....

Once again It was nitha/hari X1 who won the toss and elected to bat first. This time around Santosh and Karthik opened the innings while Mohan started the bowling attack. Harish Jr took Santosh out and then I joined the Karthik. Deepak came to bowl the 3rd over and foxed Karthik with slower leg cutter with Santosh completing a brilliant catch to end the innings. Then it was Nithya who came along with a team needing a partnership dearly, But Deepak succeeded in Nithya to go for a biggie with keeping fielders in the in Field and inviting for a big bash. Nithya fell a prey for the strategy and got an edge to get caught and bowled in the last delivery of the over. Then Harish Sr joined me and we both were trying to build the innings but trying to chip shot Harish Sr hit the ball straight to fielder at mid-wicket and the partnership was broken again Prashant joined me but Deepak foxed me with yet another slower leg cutter. Srikanth came to bat got few lusty blows to get the score to 30. in the mean time Harish Jr attacked Srikant on his private parts an match was halter for few minutes. It was disclosed later that he target things that he loves… oops… But any ways chasing target of 31, venkatesh opened the innings with Prasad but slowly they were building the innings but Prasad got out and even though Venkatesh was playing brilliantly getting few boundaries to keep the tempo. Sudheer, Rajesh were there building the partnership for small but efficient enough to keep the team on track with the required run rate. Deepak came to give a perfect foil for venkatesh. Both played effortlessly and were on target. At one stage Team required 12 of 3 overs and Karthik came to bowl. Vaishak spoke the future that “Match would finish in this particular over and Karthik would be giving 2 boundaries.” But Karthik made sure that his brothers words were taken with utmost respect and gave away 2 boundaries in first two deliveries. Venaktesh retired trying to give batting practice to rest of the team. Vaishak came to the crease. Karthik bowled another long hop and made sure his bro Vaishak hit the Six to complete he match. There were rumors that Karthik and Harish Jr were not playing up to their potential due to match fixing from their respective brothers.. The investigation is in progress.
So it was good show of cricket all in all, with lot players turning into SNCG for the matches.. It is expected that it might improve still further with the quality of cricket being improved tremendously by the bunch of the players…
Oops I had forgotten to mention that in second match “while shouting to a fielder to throw at the bowler end, I was shouting as batting end”. Deepak felt it was the confusion.. And had urged to put it in the blog as confusion. Hence I Have put it across the same way I suppose. Anyways until next week....

Battle of the Royal Rumbles on 14th Aug 2010
It was the same day 63 years ago on Aug 14th Aug late night that Indians had fought hard and got the independence to India But the At SNCG we were witnessing 2 teams playing for supremacy, pride and honor apart from the normal fun. It was also on the day of auspicious occasion of “nagara panchami” that the teams were trying to put their venom on opposition and played some real hard cricket.
Madhu played brilliantly in the second encounter and scored a fascinating fifty in a 6 over game was the highlight of the day with shower of luck from heavens. But nothing to take away from the spectacular hitting; the first 2 matches were played with only 6 people and fantastic four came an hour (oops along with some one special with dheera…Sudheera) later to join the troop an hour later as usual. The fourth match was getting into a good contest with MNM-X1 were 15 after 3 overs but on eve of school children getting prepared for Independence Day Celebration made sure there no more contest for the day and also they made sure wipro’s walk-in was successful.

Match 1:
It is a joke to specify this as a match as even though it was a far better performance from KHK X1 than INDIA displayed against NZ last week. KHK won the toss and elected to bat. Karthik took the strike while surprisingly Madhu came to open the bowling attack. The intent behind, he bowling the first over was very funny which was the first of its kind that I have heard for a long time; quoted as said from madhu“ I am bowling well at the nets and am in rhythm so that I will continue” .. But whatever he kept his words giving only 4 of the over. Mohan came to bowl the second over and turned the match on its head by picking both karthik and in form Harish Jr in consecutive balls. First he hit the timber to roll the stumps to send karthik back to hut, and then he induced a false shot from Harish to get him caught and bowled. I came to bat and tried to rotate strike with 1’s and 2’s. The score was 12 when Madhu came to bowl again his final over. A juicy full toss which could have gone over anywhere in the field was hit straight to Man with the golden Arm at hat moment “Mohan” and he wasn’t in a any mood to leave anything.. He completed the catch to restrict KHK X1 to 12. Chasing 12 Madhu finished in hurry with 2 fours and six in 2 overs and showed the form he was in. Man of the match went to Mohan for his brilliant bowling performance
Match 2:
Once again the MNM X1 lost the toss but was put into to bat from KHK X1. And Madhu started the innings while karthik started the proceedings for the KHK X1. Madhu continued his golden form from his previous innings along with the much needed luck. As they fortune favors the brave whatever he touched was turning into gold. 10 of the first over and 14 of the second over (from Me ) but to everyone’s surprise Mohan dropped a catch (bad luck continued with KHK X1). Harish bowled a brilliant over next up giving away only 2 runs and at the half way mark it was 26 for Madhu as well as MNM X1.There was another chance provided to madhu with a missed stumping from Nithya by a whisker. Next 2 overs were again bread and butter for madhu as he scored a 15 of the karthik’s over and 8 of mine and was on 49 after 5 overs. It was raining 4’s and 6’s at the SNCG. Harish came back again and bowled another brilliant over giving away only a single of the last over of the innings. Madhu completed well deserved fifty and retired to give some opportunity for the others. But Nithya couldn’t score of the last 4 deliveries and stiff target of 51 was set to KHK X1. Chasing the daunting target, Harish Started off brilliantly with four of first delivery. But Mohan continued his trick once again getting Harish very early caught and bowled. Karthik came to crease and started playing brilliantly from the word go. He hit a huge six of Madhu and got the score to 22 of 3 overs. Karthik trying to hit nithya out of park couldn’t connect and nithya had the stumps reeling. Then it was my turn to get into battle. Got a boundary off nithya and few singles and twos. MNM required 24 of the last 2 overs and I could get few boundaries off madhu and we required 11 of the last over. Direct hit from Karthik from square leg ended my innings. Once again Bad luck haunted the KHK X1.
Match 3:
Once again It was KHK X1 who won the toss and elected to field first now with added members into the squad. Veteran Deepak & Prashant joined MNM while Harish Sr and pace man Srikant joined KHK. Srikant started off the proceedings while Madhu and Prashant came to bat. This time around it was perfect trio of Srikant, Harish (Sr and Jr) bowled brilliantly giving nothing away to the opposition and even the inform Madhu couldn’t do much and got out to trying to up the tempo. Only Deepak was stranded at the other end looking for the partners. Sudeer who was playing for both teams bowled a good over for KHK and batted for MNM. But It was all over in the 7th over when Harish got the stumps uprooted to end the innings. Chasing a modest target of 26, KHK opened with K square (Me and karthik) and Mohan started the bowling. We played cautiously until 3rd over with score being 9. By then Karthik got the call from home i.e. HM of sweet home (call to get back home soon) He responded brilliantly to the call from Mr. karthik, as he took on Prashant in the fourth over for a six and boundaries. By the end of 4 overs KHK required only 5 of the 4 overs. Nithya took the imp wicket of Karthik but by then the match was almost over. Harish who joined me completed the job to get the victory.
The fourth match was stooped in between due to Independence day rehearsal practice as said earlier. I wish you all the HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY and hope we would continue to think of the independent INDIA over and over again rather than celebrate it today and forget. As most of us are almost settled in life to some extend (there might never be a complete settling), I suppose it is time now for us to think in terms of what we can do to the society to improve the living conditions of millions of people who are struggling and underprivileged. Also its time to think of the problems growing pollution, Poverty, corruption .etc .etc (the list goes on)... and to come up with the solution.
Lets Remember all those Mahan atmas who gave away their life for us to play cricket today (of course other activities) without any concerns and India to be an independent Nation. Let’s hope we would be able to pass the rich heritage we had got to the next generation and work towards it.

Minnows prevail over the sharks..
It was a fascinating week of cricket after a taking the much needed rest last week. Guys were rejuvenated to play few good games of cricket. Though due to last weeks miss, few had forgotten that the play was scheduled today while others turned away their promises. The minnows X1 were down by 0-1 after the first match, played some good cricket and beat the sharks 2-1 at the end to lift the SNCG Cup. Prasad, new MRF talent showed great promise with bowling and took away honors of the day for best debutant. while the old veteran Bond came back after year long suspension from cricket and played some good ground strokes to help the team in winning cause. Harish Jr was at his best throughout the match with bowling but batted exceptionally in the final encounter to seal the victory for minnows. For sharks, Deepak was at his fiery best with picking up wickets and mentoring the team, strategizing the plan along with field placing and other stuffs. Mohan & Praveen kannambadi were little inconsistent in their performances in batting and bowling respectively. Prashant in the first match was reasonable but later replacement Guru didn’t had much to contribute with bowl as he could bowl only single delivery in the entire series. The other mentors/Coach Nithya, Harish, star players Sudeep, Madhu, once in a month specialist Praveen, monthly visitor Srikant, Small ball specialist Venu, Vibrant Santosh were missing from the regular X1.

Match 1:
Minnows won the toss and elected to chase. Mohan and Prashant opened the innings for Sharks while I bowed the first over just for a change. Prasad bowled 2nd over and Mohan trying to hoik the ball couldn't clear long on and was caught in deep. Deepak and prashant were playing cautiously.. Harish bowled the 3rd over containing the runs. To increase the run rate Praveen was put into bat in 5th over but couldn't succeed in hitting big shot and lost his wicket. Deepak and prashant tried to bash but only managed to score only 17 runs in stipulated 6 overs.. Chasing the mere 18 runs of 6 over, Minnows started off well scoring runs at good rate. Bond and Harish opened the innings while Deepak started the bowling attack. they scored 3 runs in the first over. But the first strike was provided by removing the Bond caught at midwicket. I got the only four of the match to get the score to 8 of the 2 overs. But match turned upside down by a brilliant one handed dive to his left from Praveen kanambadi to get the price scalp of Harish. Deepak came back in the 3rd over to get my wicket. Prasad fought till end for minnows. The straight hit on the ground for 4 just went beside the demarcation line which could have made real difference in case if it had gone few inches o the left.. they required 9 of the last over. Prasad scored 4 of the first 2 balls to make the match interesting. They required 5 of 4 but a shot towards long on went straight into the hands to shatter the dreams of the minnows.
Match 2:
Sharks won the toss this time around and chose to bat first. Mohan and Praveen kanambadi opened the innings while I bowled the first over giving away a four in the final ball of the over. Good pull from Praveen enabled the sharks to open the account with a boundary.. But after that it was all minnows who bowled brilliantly to restrict sharks.. Prasad and Harish bowled 2 maiden overs restricting the sharks. score was 4 after 3 overs. they couldn't increase the run rate in the second half of the innings as well settling for a partly 10 runs. Chasing 11 to win from 6 overs, Prasad and bond started the inning while fiery Deepak started off the bowling. Deepak’s delivery went through the defenses of Prasad to shatter the stumps. Deepak had found the new found pace coming round the stumps. but Bond played well at the other end and I joined in and slowly we were on to the target. But while we required only 1 run bond got out to Deepak but Harish scored a single to get the winning runs in the 3rd over of the match. Minnows were delighted to level series 1-1 with some competitive cricket and boosted the confidence with a big win.
Match 3:

This time around sharks went for rotating the strike and steadily made the progress. They were scoring slowly but steadily to progress well and had scored 21 in 5 overs getting few boundaries away in the mean time. But a final over from Harish was a treat to watch as he shattered the timber twice in the over and bowled a maiden over to keep the target to 22 for minnows.. Bond and Harish started the innings for minnows while Deepak with his grit and determination came to bowl. He took bond and would have nearly had Harish when an edge but was dropped by keeper. Deepak was furious and was all over the park as he couldn’t digest the same.. In the mean time Praveen couldn't get his line and length right and Harish took the complete advantage of this over scoring two fours and a six over square leg of 3 consecutive deliveries to draw the score. The score was 21 after 4 overs. Guru came to bowl with one run needed and a single delivery was enough to finish the match on the winning note to clinch the series 2-1.
Talking in the post match presentation , Deepak felt that the fielding was a let off. But those who missed the game today have missed action once for all as the regular video-grapher was missing today to shoot the action.. So Don't be unlucky again.. so Be ready and be present at SNCG next week on time every time..

It was Nithyotsava at SNCG
It was overcast condition at 7:15 AM at SNCG.and PRaveen was waiting for the battalion to come.. He kept calling people whether we are really playing. And It is natural that he has forgotten that our heroes come to pitch only by 8 as he was absconding since few months..
and Match began at 8:00 when it became sunny also heating up the competition. both teams played some good competitive cricket but Nithya's X1 won the series on records 2-1. New kid on the block "Mohan" bagged the "Talented newcomer" Award. and "Utappa" got the "Best entertainer" awards.
Nithya's X1- Nithya (C), Prashant, Deepak, Praveen, Venu, Mohan (with joker boy in 2n and 3rd match)
Harish X1- Harish(C), Sudeep, Santosh, Uthappa, Guru, Myself with joker boy ( in team in 1st match while joker in 2nd and 3rd)
Match 1:
Fresh new ball was taken on a sunny morning, but still the ball was doing a bit. Harish X1 won the toss and elected to bat first. Myself with our dependent opener Sudeep, Sudeep was in flamboyant mood and wacked the first ball from nithya towards long on. As the ball was new it didn't carried over as expected and a catch was available for grab. But Venu was thinking of "Nayan*tara gave life to sudeep.Then slowly they continued and 2nd over was given to the new kid "MOhan" Sudeep welcomed him with a boundary but I gave away my wicket to him. Harish came to study the ship. But Deepak, nithya prashant were controlling well but Praveen came as a surprise package picking 2 wickets in the 5th over to reduce the game and harish X1 were bundled out for 19 in 6 overs. Harish played a captains innings bowling a fierce maiden first over picking Venu. But Lithia & PRashant studied the ship and slowly moved towards victory and completed the victory without much hiccups.
Match 2:
Nithyas X1 won the toss and elected to bat thinking to utilize the used ball which was going around the park nicely..Sudeep to everyones surprise took th ball and bowled a brillant maiden over with praveen got run out from our joker keeper. Harish bowled with the same aggression and kept things under control. It was innings of run out as run outs started to unfold. and PRashant became new "Inzamum" for the team.. while Uthappa was the star in getting these run outs. Nithya got out trying to hit the ball out of park gave a catch at deep midwicket after missing couple of balls. While deepak, Mohan and venu were bali ka bakras.. mean time frustrated prashant broke the bat (without damaging anyone) and got bowled. Chasing a modest target of 14, Harish X1 opened with utappa and santosh. Santosh was in a hurry to get out as he had a call with namithadevi, without taking much risk he got out followed by a brilliant catch from venu ended uthappas innings. He had just come out of the day-dreaming. But senior veterans sudeep and harish slowly got the innings together and completed the well deserved victory with Praveen trying 4 full tosses in succession to complete the match..

Nithyas X1 won the toss again and match was reduced to 6 overs. and Nithya and venu opened the innings. Sudeep took nithya while harish took venu in the first 2 overs. Then Prashant and Deepak studied the ship. both getting boundaries to each to push the score rate. But this time the new Inzamam alias prashant got run out. Which pegged back the run rate. Harish bowled with fire. to get the last man joker in to the crease in 5th over. Deepak played sensibly wit the new falme-boyant boy to get the target to 23. Harish X1 started aggressively with 3 of the first 2 balls with me and utappa openings the innings. mis-communication led to a wicket of utappa and Sudeep came to the crease. Mohan bowled a yorker first up to get the ueep for golden duck. Harish joined me and a good partnership started to flourish. The score was 14 after 3 overs with just 9 required of the last over. But turning over came when nithya came darting ball to the base of the stumps with his round arm action took all important wicket of harish. Then deepak took a wicket while I was trying to hit a short of length delivery to get out caught by Mohan. Soon santosh again was in a hurry dreaming off namitha got bowled off nithya. joker survived 2 balls and 8 was required off the last over. Mohan bowled another yorker and guru had to go for biggie and couldn't connect and got bowled Nithyas X1 won match by 7 runs and series 2-1.

and Match began at 8:00 when it became sunny also heating up the competition. both teams played some good competitive cricket but Nithya's X1 won the series on records 2-1. New kid on the block "Mohan" bagged the "Talented newcomer" Award. and "Utappa" got the "Best entertainer" awards.
Nithya's X1- Nithya (C), Prashant, Deepak, Praveen, Venu, Mohan (with joker boy in 2n and 3rd match)
Harish X1- Harish(C), Sudeep, Santosh, Uthappa, Guru, Myself with joker boy ( in team in 1st match while joker in 2nd and 3rd)
Match 1:
Fresh new ball was taken on a sunny morning, but still the ball was doing a bit. Harish X1 won the toss and elected to bat first. Myself with our dependent opener Sudeep, Sudeep was in flamboyant mood and wacked the first ball from nithya towards long on. As the ball was new it didn't carried over as expected and a catch was available for grab. But Venu was thinking of "Nayan*tara gave life to sudeep.Then slowly they continued and 2nd over was given to the new kid "MOhan" Sudeep welcomed him with a boundary but I gave away my wicket to him. Harish came to study the ship. But Deepak, nithya prashant were controlling well but Praveen came as a surprise package picking 2 wickets in the 5th over to reduce the game and harish X1 were bundled out for 19 in 6 overs. Harish played a captains innings bowling a fierce maiden first over picking Venu. But Lithia & PRashant studied the ship and slowly moved towards victory and completed the victory without much hiccups.
Match 2:
Nithyas X1 won the toss and elected to bat thinking to utilize the used ball which was going around the park nicely..Sudeep to everyones surprise took th ball and bowled a brillant maiden over with praveen got run out from our joker keeper. Harish bowled with the same aggression and kept things under control. It was innings of run out as run outs started to unfold. and PRashant became new "Inzamum" for the team.. while Uthappa was the star in getting these run outs. Nithya got out trying to hit the ball out of park gave a catch at deep midwicket after missing couple of balls. While deepak, Mohan and venu were bali ka bakras.. mean time frustrated prashant broke the bat (without damaging anyone) and got bowled. Chasing a modest target of 14, Harish X1 opened with utappa and santosh. Santosh was in a hurry to get out as he had a call with namithadevi, without taking much risk he got out followed by a brilliant catch from venu ended uthappas innings. He had just come out of the day-dreaming. But senior veterans sudeep and harish slowly got the innings together and completed the well deserved victory with Praveen trying 4 full tosses in succession to complete the match..

Sports was victorious in the end.....
It was a cool day at SNCG on a breezy Saturday morning. SO most of the team couldn't get up on time and be there for practice session.. and I had to wait 40 mins to get the first person (Apart from from me of course) to field in the form of MR "Pradeep" and slowly but steadily people started joining in and started practice session. mean whIle i watched few fascinating game of cricket in the side pitches..Sudeep and Harish Jr couldn't leave their bed as well as switch on their mobile and hence couldn't join. Madhu who ha taken rest by taking leave on Friday for his official work too came in late preparing for this all important contest. But for the disappointment of few we couldn't had all important series of mentors vs. caps. So the teams were made with mix & match with the available player and played an 2 good games of cricket. and Only thing I can say today is CRICKET WAS THE WINNER ALL THE WAY....

Match 1 :
Pace X1 won the toss and elected to bat with JP and Madhu opened the innings while srikant opened the attack. JP was trying to slog every ball . but one got connected and went for 4. Inspired by this Even madhu tried in the next over hit the ball out of park but it went straight to srikant who doesn't miss any held the catch comfortably. All the efforts put forth the previous day was wasted.. Nithya, was in a hurry and couldn't control his emotions and trying it the ball out of the ground top edged to get out caught and bowled. Deepak came to the crease and steadied the ship by playing conciously along with JP. After 6 th over prashan came over to bat in place of JP to increase the run rate. succeeded in getting 10 runs in the 7th over getting to a healthy run rate. I had the opportunity to bowl the last over and bowled 2 lolly pops to get 2 wickets with pace X1 were all out but had set a healthy target of 32 of 8 overs.But it was disaster for spin X1 when they opened the innings that their innings never got going.. Venu and HArish opened the innings followed by pradeep, myself and srikanth. Madhu was a surprise package picking wickets with his off-spin
Match 2:
Spin X1 won the toss and elected to bat first and batted effectively by holding the wickets. Meanwhile they took 10 runs from the last matches hero. While rest of the pace trio of deepak, nithya and prashant bowled with pace , precision and accuracy to complete the innings.. Mean time Harish got a urgent call and spin X1 were now with one bowler short. But "Venu" came to the party by rotating his arm and getting crucial wicket of madhu. while pradeep took wicket of nithya. But prashant and JP without taking any more risk played natural cricket.Prashant finished the innings with style by hitting 6 over long on..
Now there is a new hope of new teams being formed and new cricket being played at SNCG as few senior pros might be moving out going forward.. also next there might not be cricket at SNCG as there would be official duty for most of the players on account on of "bharat Bandh" on 5th July. on account of the same Wipro applied thought and compensated on 10th July and we had to work instead of play .IN the mean time I hope you enjoyed the few fascinating games of football in this World cup. So lets just sink in with the World cup..
