It was Battle for supremacy in the gentleman’s mental game at SNCG on Saturday. Mr Venkatesh took away the new talent on the block award, There was no competition for Sahshi as he was the best man behind the stumps taking some scintillating catches, helping bowler strategies his deliveries (putting his Skills learned in US to good effect along with the US outfit…)The teams were shuffled across after match (I don’t know for what reason…) .. But the Venkatesh made sure he won all the three games he was part off who had Vaishak for his company.. While Harish (Sr) was at the other end getting company from Karthik, Santosh & Prashant.. ehhee… Nihya and me were on 1-2. All other were as usual late entrants.. Shashi was the lucky and played on both the sides getting batting practice on both sides to get acclimatized to the SNCG conditions..
Match1:
NVVK X1- Nithya, Vaishak, Venkatesh, Kiran UK

HSPK X1- Harish (Sr), Santosh M, Prashant, Karthik,
NVVK won the toss and elected to bat with Vaishak (playing after ages…) opened the innings with Venkatesh, New comer to SNCG with high expectation while Harish opened bowling attack and took full advantage of lack of match practice from Vaishak, getting his wickets getting him bowled. Then it was my turn to join Venkatesh and kept rotating the strike. Scored slowly and steadily But there was sudden double break with both venkatesh and nithya going in quick succession. Then It was me and shashi made sure that we complete the allotted 6 overs. And at last I too could hit a six in the final over (which is still a 8th wonder heheh) to get the score to 25. Needing 26 of 6 HSPK had a bad start with Prashant getting run out with out even facing a single delivery with brilliant work from Shahi. Then Nithya got Harish (Sr) and they were struggling at 0 for 2 after one over.. And it became 2/3 after 3 overs when santosh got out. Then it was karthik who was battling a lone battle with shahi giving him the much needed SAATH. But requiring 20 of last over Vaishak got caught & bowled his younger one to finish off the match.
From Match 2 onwards:
Nit-Har X1- Nithya, Harish (Sr), Srikanth, Karthik, Prashant, Shashidhar K, Santosh M, Kiran UK

Har-Deep X1- Deepak, Harish (Jr), Rajesh, Sudheer, Prasad, Mohan, Vaishak, and Venkatesh
Match 2:
Nithya/Harish won the toss and elected to bat first. Prashant/Karthik opened the innings while pacy Harish Jr, opened the bowling attack. He ad the early success taking prashant bowled by beating him in pace. The Harish took guard to resurrect the innings but couldn’t stay there for long. Then it was my turn to join karthik to build the innings. Though we got couple of boundaries and run rate slowly started to move up, I got run out trying for a suicidal second. Nithya joined karthik an tried t o increase the tempo. But some good tight bowling from Deepak and co restricted the nithya/haris to 38 which was a below par score on the SNCG for 8 overs with so much of open spaces available.. The new pair of Venkatesh and Rajesh opened the innings while veteran Harish sr took up the challenge of bowling. The venkatesh/Rajesh played sensibly scoring with 3-4 an over without taking any risk the match was evenly poised at half way stage with battings side still requiring 22 of the 4 overs. And Rajesh got out trying to increase the tempo. But then t came to battle of Harishs.. As Harish Jr took on the bowling of Harish Sr, and hit 2 mammoth sixers and a boundary to get the match almost on the verge of finish. Karthik came back to take Harish Jr caught behind But it was just the formality before they won the match.
Match 3:
Once again It was nitha/hari X1 who won the toss and elected to bat first. This time around Santosh and Karthik opened the innings while Mohan started the bowling attack. Harish Jr took Santosh out and then I joined the Karthik. Deepak came to bowl the 3rd over and foxed Karthik with slower leg cutter with Santosh completing a brilliant catch to end the innings. Then it was Nithya who came along with a team needing a partnership dearly, But Deepak succeeded in Nithya to go for a biggie with keeping fielders in the in Field and inviting for a big bash. Nithya fell a prey for the strategy and got an edge to get caught and bowled in the last delivery of the over. Then Harish Sr joined me and we both were trying to build the innings but trying to chip shot Harish Sr hit the ball straight to fielder at mid-wicket and the partnership was broken again Prashant joined me but Deepak foxed me with yet another slower leg cutter. Srikanth came to bat got few lusty blows to get the score to 30. in the mean time Harish Jr attacked Srikant on his private parts an match was halter for few minutes. It was disclosed later that he target things that he loves… oops… But any ways chasing target of 31, venkatesh opened the innings with Prasad but slowly they were building the innings but Prasad got out and even though Venkatesh was playing brilliantly getting few boundaries to keep the tempo. Sudheer, Rajesh were there building the partnership for small but efficient enough to keep the team on track with the required run rate. Deepak came to give a perfect foil for venkatesh. Both played effortlessly and were on target. At one stage Team required 12 of 3 overs and Karthik came to bowl. Vaishak spoke the future that “Match would finish in this particular over and Karthik would be giving 2 boundaries.” But Karthik made sure that his brothers words were taken with utmost respect and gave away 2 boundaries in first two deliveries. Venaktesh retired trying to give batting practice to rest of the team. Vaishak came to the crease. Karthik bowled another long hop and made sure his bro Vaishak hit the Six to complete he match. There were rumors that Karthik and Harish Jr were not playing up to their potential due to match fixing from their respective brothers.. The investigation is in progress.
So it was good show of cricket all in all, with lot players turning into SNCG for the matches.. It is expected that it might improve still further with the quality of cricket being improved tremendously by the bunch of the players…
Oops I had forgotten to mention that in second match “while shouting to a fielder to throw at the bowler end, I was shouting as batting end”. Deepak felt it was the confusion.. And had urged to put it in the blog as confusion. Hence I Have put it across the same way I suppose. Anyways until next week....
